The Ministry of Health Uganda is set to convene the 3rd Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Conference, building on the success of the inaugural event held in 2019 and the second conference in 2022. These previous conferences laid a strong foundation for Uganda’s commitment to advancing Primary Health Care (PHC) and promoting community well-being.
Building upon these achievements, the upcoming conference will focus on exploring innovative strategies, digital transformations, sustainable practices, and effective partnerships to build robust health systems capable of preventing diseases and enhancing community well-being.

The President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has emphasized the need to gasp the prevention concept in the health sector to ensure that 75 percent of diseases are prevented in Uganda.
He said that through public health, medical doctors can eliminate most of the sicknesses that affect citizens.
"These are the facts because many of those sicknesses are preventable" said Museveni.
So you as the new generation should really get that and make it part of your DNA in terms of professional services so that you help your people when you get a chance to avoid these sicknesses- disease of ignorance such as malaria.
Once you adopt this prevention method, most of the diseases can be avoided, for example, if you sensitize the communities where you will be deployed on how to use latrines, sleeping under treated mosquito nets, and using clean water.
"Empowered communities can improve their own health, promote development and advance economic growth" .
"We also must talk about disease prevention & health promotion. No amount of medicines will ever be enough for a healthy population no matter how much money we invest. The satisfaction we are looking for starts with reducing demand through health promotion and disease prevention"..
"If everyone gets involved to improve sanitation, if children can get vaccinated and people sleep under mosquito nets, all diseases which bring them to the hospitals will be prevented".
"Primary Health Care is the way to go and the Ministry of Health has strategically committed to prioritize Health Promotion & Disease Prevention efforts" .
